Your rig, your teacher, your practice room.
A music studio for guitarists and singers: a rig simulated down to its circuits, lessons with scrolling tablature, a voice coach, a backing guitar and the tools to learn the neck. Press play, and stomp.
What you hear is the app’s own synthesized guitar, played through its basic rig (Big Muff Pi, Tumnus, the ODS 1997 and a Mesa 2x12, Room Reverb) by its engine, rendered ahead of time. Stomp a pedal to hear it come in. Robine, the husky, can be picked up: press and hold her.
Circuits
Every part of the circuit, simulated.
A pedal here is not an effect trying to sound like the original: it is its circuit. Every resistor, capacitor, transistor and diode of the schematic is there, and the engine works out, sample by sample, what the current does through them. Turn a knob and the same potentiometer moves; roll back your guitar’s volume and it cleans up like the real one.
Every model goes on the bench against captures of real pedals, and gets a medal, from tin to platinum, for how far it is proved to be the real thing.
- Circuits Simulated with SPICE, oversampled up to 8× to keep distortion clean.
- Captures Neural Amp Modeler captures for amplifiers and pedals.
- Cabinets Impulse responses, mono or in stereo.
- Looper Four tracks, one button each, wherever you put it in the chain.
- Presets Your rigs kept by name, with snapshots recalled in one tap.
- Latency Buffers down to 32 samples; your interface found by itself.
Who lives here
Robine lives in the studio.
A husky, grey and white, with pale blue eyes. When it is quiet she wanders, sits, lies down and sleeps. Play, and she lifts her head and pricks her ears; keep playing, and she comes to rest by your gear. Now and then she jumps up onto a pedal and wanders along the board.
A tap wakes her and makes her wag her tail. Press and hold to pick her up, and put her down where you like: on the floor, or on a pedal.
Lessons and songs
Learn, then practise against the clock.
Theory lessons you can play with, and timed workouts where the tablature scrolls with the metronome, the tempo rises as you get it, and the rig sets itself up for the exercise. Songs to play through, their tablature scrolling as you go.
Guitar
A backing guitar on your chords.
Type a progression and a guitar plays it, dry or through your rig. Save it as MIDI.
Voice
A coach that listens to how you sing.
See your pitch as you sing. Record a take and have it analysed note by note: intonation, vibrato, attacks, the ends of phrases. It says what went well, what to work on, and what may be style, measured against the singers you choose as references.
Tools
Scales, modes and positions, on your guitar.
Every scale and mode on the neck, one CAGED shape or three-notes-per-string position at a time, in any tuning and with a capo.
